Kyushu Lutheran College is a small, four-year, liberal arts college with a Department of Humanities (Career English Major & Children’s Studies Major) and a Department of Clinical Psychology. Kumamoto Gakuen University was established in 1942, and has a long history of commitment to international education. We accept many international students every year. The Kumamoto Prefectural College of Technology (KPCT) consists of four departments: Precision and Production, Mechanical Systems, Electronics, and Computer and Computer Systems Engineering.
KPCT offers a two-year specialized technical education program – including versatile experimental and practical training – through the use of cutting-edge technologies. Smaller classes ensure that students gain technological knowledge and skills to become practical engineers contributing to an innovative society.
PUK, established in 1949, consists of three faculties ― the Faculty of Letters, the Faculty of Environmental & Symbiotic Studies, and the Faculty of Administrative Studies ― and three corresponding graduate schools. About 2,200 undergraduate and graduate students are enrolled. PUK is compact, allowing for easy communication between students and faculty. We welcome students full of intellectual curiosity who want to succeed in the world while being rooted in the local community.
The National Institute of Technology (KOSEN), Kumamoto College (Kumamoto KOSEN) has two campuses (Kumamoto Campus: Koshi City, and Yatsushiro Campus: Yatsushiro City). Kumamoto KOSEN has three departments of electronics and informatics, and three departments of interdisciplinary engineering studies. We also have two advanced courses. Our five-year (seven for students in the advanced course) program produces highly skilled graduates in the fields of engineering and science.
Kumamoto University is a national university with seven undergraduate faculties and six graduate schools. The mission of Kumamoto Health Science University is to train medical professionals including medical technologists, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists. Our students enjoy a fulfilling campus life in a pleasant environment.
International Exchange Office
Shokei University is the only women’s university in Kumamoto. The university has two campuses, with the four-year college consisting of two departments (Contemporary Culture/Human Life Science) and the junior college consisting of three departments (Integrated Career Studies/ Food and Nutrition/Childhood Education). We offer our best support to international students throughout their campus life.
Globalization Promotion Center
Sojo University consists of 5 faculties: Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Faculty of Biotechnology and Life Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences, and Faculty of Art. Sojo International Center offers international students comprehensive support during the admission process, as well as daily campus life. We also organize a variety of events bringing together international students and Japanese students each year. In addition, we provide strong support for our students in job-hunting.
From 2022, we have two schools comprising six departments: the new School of Humanities and Science (Departments of Business Administration; Community and Social Studies; and Human Information Engineering) and the School of Agriculture (Departments of Agriculture; Animal Science; and Food and Life Sciences). While being compact, we have substantial education and research facilities with a focus on international exchange, with our graduates being active on the world stage. Additionally, we have a Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences.
Many students from Cambodia, China, Korea, Mongolia, Thailand, Vietnam, and other nations have enrolled in our college. For the intensive study of Japanese, our college offers a Japanese Language Center for non-native speakers.
